Exciting New Releases and Book Events: December Updates and What's Coming in 2025!

The world of storytelling connects generations, bridging time and geography in powerful ways. I am excited to announce that my book, Emmy Crosses the Big Pond, is in the publishing stages! This historical fiction tale captures the incredible journey of my grandmother, who bravely crossed the Atlantic from Liverpool to New York City in 1911 at just 8.5 years old—all on her own. Her adventure aboard a steamship introduced her to a colorful array of passengers, creating unforgettable memories.

As we look forward to the book's release on January 1, 2025, I feel immense pride in sharing her story. Not only does it honor my grandmother's memory, but it also invites young readers to explore a significant historical chapter through her eyes.

A Journey Across the Sea

Picture a steamship cutting through the waves, the salty breeze whipping through your hair, as excitement and uncertainty fill the air. For Emmy, this journey was more than just reaching America; it was a leap into the unknown filled with new friendships and thrilling experiences.

Readers will follow Emmy closely as she meets remarkable characters, like a sailor who she helped learn to read, and a fellow passenger who shared tales of home. If your child has ever dreamt of adventure, they will be inspired by Emmy's brave tale. Emmy Crosses the Big Pond blends history with adventure, teaching kids about courage, resilience, and the beauty of diverse cultures.

Throughout Emmy’s journey, young readers will not only be transported across the ocean but will gain insight into the hopes and challenges faced by immigrants. This story serves as a heartfelt tribute to family heritage and the indomitable spirit of those who ventured into the unknown, reminiscent of the approximately 23 million immigrants who arrived in America between 1880 and 1920.

The Magical World of Can You Teach Me to Read?

In addition to Emmy’s inspiring story, I am thrilled to introduce my new children's book, Can You Teach Me to Read? This engaging tale follows Zeke, a young dragon who believes that reading can unlock adventures and knowledge.

Zeke's journey takes him around the world in search of a teacher. He meets a wise wizard atop a mountain, a Japanese woman reading Braille, and the graceful queen of the elves. Each encounter showcases different ways to learn and emphasizes the importance of inclusion. For instance, studies show that children who read regularly are 30% more likely to excel academically.

With vibrant illustrations and storytelling that captivates, Can You Teach Me to Read? aims to inspire children to embrace curiosity and the joy of learning, reminding them that knowledge comes in many forms.

Recent Book Signings and Community Engagement

The past two months have been a whirlwind of excitement, filled with three vibrant book signings and public appearances! Meeting readers face-to-face has been a dream come true. I am truly grateful for everyone who attended and shared their love for storytelling.

I have one more signing this weekend and a significant event planned for February 2025. These opportunities to engage with the community are invaluable; they create a space for sharing stories that inspire future generations.

I warmly invite all my readers to join these events. They are about fostering a community united by a love for stories and imagination, not just book sales.

Looking Ahead: Writing New Chapters

As the excitement builds for Emmy Crosses the Big Pond and Can You Teach Me to Read?, my writing journey continues. I am currently working on two more books: one for middle school readers and another for adults. My goal is to finish both by the end of January.

Each story will explore new themes and perspectives, showcasing the boundless nature of storytelling. With narratives that highlight diverse experiences, I hope to engage readers of all ages and remind them of the powerful role stories play in illuminating the human experience.

A Heartfelt Thank You

As this exciting publishing journey unfolds, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all my readers. Your support and enthusiasm mean the world to me! It's your encouragement that fuels my passion for storytelling.

Each book is a labor of love, inspired by the belief that stories hold the power to educate, empower, and entertain. Thank you for supporting my work and attending my events. I cannot wait for you to experience the adventures of Emmy and Zeke, along with many more stories yet to come.

The Adventure Continues

The publishing journey for Emmy Crosses the Big Pond and Can You Teach Me to Read? marks the continuing exploration into the hearts and minds of readers. As we count down to their releases, this is a thrilling time filled with endless possibilities.

Join me in celebrating the magic of storytelling! Let's keep the spirit of curiosity alive and foster a love for reading that crosses oceans and generations. Stay tuned for more updates, and I hope to see you at my upcoming events!

Cheers!

Lynda
